Position Summary:

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer supports process improvement activities that enhance product quality, production efficiency, and equipment performance within the fiber‑optic cable manufacturing environment. This role focuses on assisting with data collection, evaluating production methods, supporting equipment setups, and participating in troubleshooting efforts. The position involves working closely with senior engineers and production teams to implement process adjustments, support new product trials, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily manufacturing processes and report abnormalities, trends, or out‑of‑control conditions to senior engineering staff.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze process data to support improvements in process control and manufacturing capability.
  • Assist with basic engineering calculations and data summaries to support decision‑making.
  • Support continuous improvement activities using established methodologies (Lean, 6S, root cause analysis).
  • Participate in problem‑solving efforts to help identify and eliminate sources of scrap, downtime, and process variation.
  • Assist senior engineers with implementing process changes, trials, and adjustments for new product introductions.
  • Help create and maintain Machine Instructions (MI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation.
  • Support process and product audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with machine setups, tooling adjustments, and basic equipment troubleshooting under guidance.
  • Participate in equipment commissioning activities and small-scale upgrades as assigned.
  • Work with production operators and technicians to ensure processes run safely and correctly.
  • Communicate process updates to operators and other team members under supervision.
  • Assist in developing training materials to support workforce skill development.
  • Support engineering projects, including building schedules, tracking progress, and gathering technical data.
  • Assist in maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Contribute to basic project or engineering reports for internal use.
  • Work with Engineering Design, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to help ensure manufacturing processes meet customer and division requirements.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field preferred).
  • 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in fiber‑optic or wire & cable manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, engineering tools, or basic data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Minitab) is an advantage.
  • Eagerness to learn, take direction, and grow into increased responsibility over time.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
