Job Summary
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on construction sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract documents. This role coordinates subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from start to completion
Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, labor, materials, and equipment
Enforce project schedules and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards
Conduct daily site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and safety
Interpret and enforce construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and inspectors
Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and site documentation
Identify and resolve construction issues, conflicts, and delays
Lead site meetings and communicate expectations clearly to all trades
Ensure work meets quality standards and building codes
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
5+ years of experience in construction supervision or related role
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with construction scheduling software and basic computer applications
Valid driver's license
Preferred Skills & Certifications
OSHA 30 certification
First Aid/CPR certification
Experience with commercial / residential / industrial construction (specify as needed)
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
Ability to lift up to [X] pounds
