Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of large commercial chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled) and boiler systems (fire-tube, water-tube, and/or high-pressure steam boilers)
Work on centrifugal, screw, and reciprocating chillers from major manufacturers such as Trane, York, Carrier, or Daikin
Maintain and service steam and hot water boilers, burners, and associated combustion systems
Monitor, inspect, and adjust central plant operations to ensure optimal performance, safety, and energy efficiency
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, combustion, and control system issues
Perform refrigerant handling, leak detection, and system charging in compliance with EPA regulations
Conduct boiler blowdowns, combustion analysis, burner adjustments, and water treatment coordination
Maintain and service associated equipment including pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, steam traps, valves, and hydronic piping systems
Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, schematics, and control diagrams
Complete preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate service documentation
Respond to emergency calls and participate in an on-call rotation as needed
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, campus policies, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with campus facilities staff, vendors, and contractors as needed
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred
Minimum 5+ years of experience working on large commercial or industrial chiller and boiler systems
Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems, boiler operations, combustion systems, electrical components, and controls
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required
Boiler operator license or high-pressure boiler experience strongly preferred
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and control systems independently
Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Valid driverâs license and ability to pass background checks required for campus access
